(Chicago, IL)–(eMediaCampaigns!)–SEP 4, 2008–In the wake of its much-energized initiative by a thriving organization, www.womenidentitypurpose.org has announced its first fall fundraiser. A charity bowl-a-thon to support single mothers whose aim is to go to school or start a business will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2008 from 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm. The event will take place at AMF Lanes, 80 W. Higgins Road in Hoffman Estates, IL.

Founder, Cynthia Jones and Traci Sanders Campbell, co-founder and executive officer for the Chicago chapter in WIPonies, reported that the event is one of two November initiatives for the organization and explained the purpose of their organization.

“There is a disproportionate amount of single working mothers who are living below the poverty line and are unable to sufficiently support their families. Our goal is to partner with other agencies, businesses and sponsors to ‘bridge the gap’ in the communities in which we serve. Based on studies, the median earnings of a woman older than 25 years working full time is about $584 weekly. This median weekly salary decreases for Black and Hispanic females; $491 and $410 respectively. We are continuously growing our Success Network. This network is made up of various individuals who desire to assist in the advancement of our awardees. Upon receipt of the award, our recipients are aligned with a mentor or coach from this network as a resource.”

Money raised from the bowl-a-thon and proceeds from other fundraising activities will be presented to one or more single mothers on May 30, 2009 at the Grady-McKnight awards ceremony. The organization will also hold a fundraiser in Memphis, Tennessee. The WIP Memphis Chapter will host the 1st Annual Step to Empower 5 K Walk on November 1, 2008. Both events are critical fundraisers for W.omen I.dentity Purpose which relies on contributions and in-kind donations to support the non-profit organization’s efforts.

Bowlers and sponsors are encouraged to pick up registration, pledge forms, and applications. For more information about WIP and the Bowl-a-thon contact Traci Sanders Campbell at 1-888-290-7099, ext. 84, or visit the organizations’ website: www.womenidentitypurpose.org
